Short/Absent Vagina

Short/Absent Vagina

There are birth defects of the female reproductive system which result in an absent or underdeveloped vagina. The external anatomy appears normal and many times the young woman and her parents are unaware until seeking medical evaluation during the teen years when menstruation fails to occur. This condition goes by the names Mayer Rokitansky Kuster Hauser (MRKH) syndrome, Mullerian dysgenesis/aplasia and/or vaginal atresia.
